Clean the area around the hole
Remove any loose drywall or paper
Fill very small holes with lightweight spackle
Fill small holes with drywall patch compound
Apply the filler with a putty knife
Smooth the surface flat
Let the patch dry completely
Sand the area lightly until smooth
Apply a second coat if needed
Sand again after drying
Wipe away dust
Prime the repaired area
Paint to match the wall
