Turn off the sprinkler system
Locate the damaged sprinkler head
Dig around the head carefully
Remove the old sprinkler head
Check the riser and threads for damage
Wrap the new head’s threads with plumber’s tape
Screw on the new sprinkler head
Adjust the spray pattern and direction
Turn the system back on
Test the new sprinkler head
Fill in the dirt around the head
