How to Replace Laptop Keys?

Power off the laptop

Unplug the charger

Remove the battery if possible

Ground yourself to reduce static electricity

Identify the key type and hinge mechanism

Remove the damaged keycap carefully with a plastic tool

Remove the retainer clip if it is broken or detached

Inspect the scissor mechanism and rubber dome

Align the retainer clip with the keyboard base

Snap the retainer clip into place

Align the keycap over the retainer clip

Press the keycap down until it clicks

Test the key for proper movement and response

Replace the entire keyboard if the key mechanism is damaged or missing parts
