Locate the water filter compartment in your Whirlpool refrigerator
Open the filter cover or access door
Turn the old filter counterclockwise or press the release button, depending on the model
Pull the old filter straight out
Remove the protective cap from the new filter, if present
Insert the new filter into the compartment
Turn the new filter clockwise or push it in until it locks, depending on the model
Close the filter cover or access door
Run several gallons of water through the dispenser
Reset the filter indicator light, if your model has one
