Shut down the computer
Unplug the power cable
Remove the battery if it is a laptop with a removable battery
Press and hold the power button for 15 to 30 seconds
Reconnect the battery if removed
Plug the power cable back in
Turn the computer on
Enter BIOS or UEFI if needed
Restore BIOS or UEFI settings to default
Save changes and restart
Reseat the CPU only if you are comfortable opening the computer and handling hardware
Reapply thermal paste if the CPU was removed
Reassemble the computer and test it
