If you know the passcode, enter it and unlock the iPad normally
If Face ID or Touch ID works, use it to unlock the iPad
If the iPad says “iPad Unavailable” or “Security Lockout,” wait for the timer and try again if you remember the passcode
If you forgot the passcode, put the iPad in recovery mode
Connect the iPad to a Mac or PC with Finder or iTunes
For iPads with Face ID, quickly press and release Volume Up, quickly press and release Volume Down, then press and hold the Top button until the recovery mode screen appears
For iPads with Home button, press and hold the Home button and the Top or Side button until the recovery mode screen appears
On the computer, choose Restore
Wait for the iPad to erase and reinstall iPadOS
Set up the iPad again after the restore
If Find My iPad was enabled, sign in with the Apple ID and password used on the device
If you cannot use a computer, use iCloud Find My to erase the iPad
Go to iCloud.com/find and sign in with your Apple ID
Select the locked iPad
Choose Erase iPad
After erasing, set up the iPad again
If Activation Lock appears, enter the Apple ID and password previously used on the iPad
Contact Apple Support if you cannot recover the Apple ID or complete the reset
