Click the Apple menu ()
Select Restart
Confirm Restart if prompted
If the Mac does not restart normally:
Hold the power button until the screen goes dark
Wait 10 seconds
Press the power button to turn the Mac back on
If the Mac is frozen and won’t respond:
Press and hold the power button until the screen turns off
Wait 10 seconds
Press the power button to restart
If you need to restart from Recovery:
Shut down the Mac
Turn it on and immediately hold the key combination:
Apple silicon (M1/M2/M3): hold and keep holding the power button until “Loading startup options,” then select Options
Intel: hold Command (⌘) + R until you see the Apple logo or a spinning globe
Choose Restart from the Utilities menu if available
