Open the Messages app
Tap the conversation you want to view
Use the search bar in Messages to find specific text messages
Swipe down on the Messages screen to reveal the search field if needed
Check the Recently Deleted folder in Messages if the messages were deleted
Go to Settings
Tap Apps
Tap Messages
Review available message settings and sync options
Sign in to the same Apple ID on all devices if using Messages in iCloud
Go to Settings
Tap your name
Tap iCloud
Turn on Messages if it is available
Restore your iPhone from an iCloud backup if the messages were backed up
Restore your iPhone from a computer backup if the messages were saved there
Contact your carrier if you need records of SMS messages
Use a third-party recovery tool only if necessary
