Keep the required number of significant figures
Look at the digit immediately after the last kept digit
If that digit is 5 or greater, round the last kept digit up
If that digit is 4 or less, keep the last kept digit the same
Remove all digits after the rounded position
Use zeros only when they are significant or needed to show the rounded value
