Open WhatsApp
Tap the search icon at the top
Type the person’s name or phone number
Check the matching chat or contact results
Open the chat if the person appears
If they do not appear, save their phone number in your contacts first
Refresh WhatsApp contacts by reopening the app or tapping the new chat icon
Search again using the saved contact name or number
