How To Season A Steak?

Pat the steak dry with paper towels

Season generously with kosher salt on all sides

Add freshly ground black pepper on all sides

Let the steak sit at room temperature for 20 to 40 minutes

Optionally add garlic powder or onion powder

Optionally add a light coating of oil before cooking

Season just before cooking or up to 1 hour ahead

Avoid over-seasoning with too many spices

Press the seasoning gently into the meat

Cook the steak as desired after seasoning
