Open Instagram
Go to your Direct Messages
Check the green activity status dot next to a user’s profile picture
Look for “Active now” or “Active X min ago” under their name
Make sure both accounts have Activity Status turned on
Go to your profile
Tap the menu icon
Tap Settings and privacy
Tap Messages and story replies
Tap Show activity status
Turn it on to see others’ activity status
Note that Instagram does not show exact “last seen” times like some other apps
Note that you can only see activity status for accounts that allow it
