How To Remove Acrylic Paint From Clothes?

Scrape off wet paint with a dull knife or spoon; avoid spreading

Blot wet paint with a clean white cloth or paper towel

Rinse the back of the fabric with cold water to push paint out

If paint is water-based: wash immediately with cold water and a mild detergent

If paint is acrylic (water-based but dries): soak in warm water with a mild detergent for 15–30 minutes, then wash

If paint is dried: apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) to a hidden area; then dab the stain from the outside toward the center

Gently loosen the stain with a soft toothbrush or cloth while alcohol sits for a few minutes

Rinse with cold water and wash with detergent

For stubborn dried acrylic: use acetone or nail-polish remover (acetone) only if fabric care label allows; test in an inconspicuous spot first

Dab acetone on the stain briefly, then rinse immediately with cold water

Wash the garment thoroughly after chemical treatment

For remaining residue: repeat alcohol/acetone steps as needed, then wash again

Air-dry the garment; do not use heat until the stain is fully gone

If the stain persists on delicate or non-colorfast fabrics: take the item to a professional cleaner
