Blot excess grease with a clean paper towel or cloth
Sprinkle baking soda, cornstarch, or talc on the stain and let sit 30–60 minutes
Brush off the powder
Apply dishwashing liquid directly to the stain
Work it in gently with your fingers or a soft brush
Let sit 10–15 minutes
Launder in the hottest water safe for the fabric using regular detergent
Check the stain before drying; repeat dish soap treatment if needed
For set-in stains, apply a prewash stain remover or laundry detergent paste (detergent + a small amount of water) and let sit 15–30 minutes before washing
For stubborn stains on colorfast, non-delicate fabrics, use an enzyme-based laundry detergent and soak 30–60 minutes before washing
For delicate fabrics, use a small amount of dishwashing liquid and rinse thoroughly before washing
Air-dry until the stain is fully gone; avoid dryer heat on remaining stains
