How To Sew A Tie?

Choose tie fabric, lining, and thread

Cut the fabric into three tie sections: wide end, narrow end, and middle

Cut matching lining pieces if using lining

Interface the fabric if needed

Join the three fabric sections together with right sides facing

Press the seams open

Sew the lining pieces together the same way

Place the lining inside the tie fabric with right sides together

Sew along the long edges and pointed ends, leaving the center open for turning

Trim seam allowances and clip the corners

Turn the tie right side out

Use a point turner or blunt tool to shape the ends

Press the tie flat

Fold the long edges toward the center on the back side

Hand-stitch the folded edges closed with a slip stitch

Sew the center seam by hand with a loose slip stitch to help the tie roll properly

Press the finished tie again

Attach a label if desired
