Check the rabbit when it is at least 6 to 8 weeks old
Hold the bunny securely and gently on its back or with its hindquarters supported
Part the fur around the genital area
Look for the shape of the opening
Male: a round opening with a small protruding tube
Female: a slit-like opening close to the anus
Compare the distance between the anus and genital opening
Male: usually a larger gap
Female: usually a smaller gap
