Press Command + Shift + 4

Press Spacebar after Command + Shift + 4 to capture a window
Press Command + Shift + 3 to capture the entire screen
Find the screenshot on your desktop by default
Hold Control while taking a screenshot to copy it to the clipboard instead of saving it
