How To Snowboard?

Choose a snowboard size based on your height, weight, and riding style

Get the right boots for your feet and ensure a snug fit

Mount bindings to a comfortable stance width (shoulder-width is common)

Set your stance angles (many riders start with around +15° to +21° for the front foot and -6° to -12° for the back foot)

Decide your dominant foot (ride regular if left foot is forward, goofy if right foot is forward)

Wear a helmet, wrist guards, and appropriate layers

Learn basic safety: stay in control, follow trail signs, and know where other riders are

Practice mounting and dismounting the snowboard safely

Learn how to stop: heel-side braking and toe-side braking

Practice side slipping (riding across the slope while controlling speed)

Practice riding on gentle slopes before attempting steeper terrain

Learn basic turning: shift weight to initiate toe-side and heel-side turns

Practice riding straight, then gradually add gentle turns

Practice getting up after falling using your board and bindings correctly

Learn to fall safely: avoid outstretched arms, try to roll with the impact

Use a lift correctly: approach the chair calmly, keep your board positioned, and keep your body balanced

Practice controlling speed on the way down to avoid getting stuck or colliding

Progress to small features or steeper runs only after consistent control on easier slopes

Maintain your board: check bindings, tighten hardware, and keep edges and base in good condition
