Choose a healthy, non-flowering rose stem
Cut a 6 to 8 inch section just below a leaf node
Remove the flower, buds, and lower leaves
Keep 2 to 3 leaves at the top
Make the bottom cut at a 45-degree angle
Lightly scrape or wound the lower stem if desired
Dip the cut end in rooting hormone
Fill a pot with moist, well-draining potting mix
Make a hole in the soil with a pencil or stick
Insert the cutting into the hole and firm the soil around it
Water lightly to settle the soil
Cover the cutting with a clear plastic bag or humidity dome
Place it in bright, indirect light
Keep the soil moist but not soggy
Remove the cover briefly each day for airflow
Check for roots after several weeks
Transplant once new growth and strong roots appear
