Insert the key into the ignition or ensure the key fob is inside the car
Press the brake pedal fully
For manual transmission, press the clutch pedal fully
Shift the gear lever to neutral
Turn the key to the start position or press the engine start button
Release the key or button once the engine starts
Check that the engine is running normally
Release the clutch slowly if preparing to move
Keep the brake pressed until ready to drive
