Avoid driving if possible
Keep the windshield out of extreme temperature changes
Do not use defroster or hot air on the cracked area
Do not pour hot or cold water on the windshield
Clean the crack gently with glass cleaner and a soft cloth
Dry the area completely
Apply clear packing tape or windshield crack repair tape over the crack
Cover both sides of the crack if accessible
Keep pressure off the windshield
Avoid slamming doors
Avoid rough roads and potholes
Get a windshield repair kit and seal the crack as soon as possible
Have the windshield professionally repaired quickly
Replace the windshield if the crack is long, deep, or in the driver’s line of sight
