Gently nudge or tap them to change position
Ask them to roll onto their side
Elevate their head with an extra pillow
Open a window or improve airflow in the room
Clear nasal congestion with saline spray
Use a nasal strip or nasal dilator
Encourage them to drink water if they are dry-mouthed
Remove alcohol, sedatives, or sleeping pills if possible
Reposition their pillow to keep the airway open
Wake them briefly and have them reset their breathing
If they are gasping, choking, or struggling to breathe, call emergency services
