Sit or lie down immediately
Keep your head still
Fix your gaze on one stationary object
Avoid sudden head movements
Breathe slowly and deeply
Drink water if you may be dehydrated
Close your eyes if visual motion worsens symptoms
Use the Epley maneuver if your vertigo is from BPPV and you know how to do it correctly
Take prescribed vertigo medication if you have been given one
Avoid driving, climbing, or operating machinery
Rest until the spinning stops
Seek urgent medical care if you have chest pain, severe headache, fainting, weakness, numbness, trouble speaking, or new hearing loss
