Divide your page into three sections: cue column, notes area, and summary area
Write the topic, date, and class at the top
Take notes in the large notes area during class or while reading
Use short phrases, keywords, and abbreviations
Record main ideas, facts, examples, and important details
Leave space between ideas for later additions
After class, write questions, keywords, or cues in the left column
Turn main points into questions in the cue column
Write a brief summary of the page at the bottom
Review your notes soon after class
Cover the notes area and answer the cue questions from memory
Use the summary and cue column to study and self-test
Revise and add missing information as needed
