File the top gel layer until the shine is gone and the surface looks dull
Soak cotton pads in acetone and place them on each nail
Wrap each fingertip with foil to hold the acetone-soaked cotton in place
Leave in place for 15–25 minutes
Check progress; gently remove the foil and cotton
If gel remains, re-wrap and soak in additional 5–10 minute intervals
Use a cuticle pusher or orangewood stick to gently lift softened gel from the nail
Avoid prying if it doesn’t lift easily
Buff any remaining thin gel with a fine buffer
Wash hands and remove acetone residue with soap and water
Apply cuticle oil or moisturizer to rehydrate nails and skin
Do not peel or rip the gel off
Stop if you feel burning or significant pain and seek professional removal
