Place used batteries in a non-metal container or bag
Take rechargeable, lithium, and button batteries to a battery recycling drop-off
Take car batteries to an auto parts store or hazardous waste facility
Dispose of alkaline batteries according to local rules
Do not throw batteries in regular trash unless local rules allow it
Do not burn, crush, or puncture batteries
Do not mix damaged batteries with other batteries
Store damaged or swollen batteries in a safe, dry place and contact local hazardous waste services
