Identify active mole tunnels by flattening raised runs and checking which ones are repaired within 24 hours
Set traps in the active tunnels, not in abandoned runs
Use a mole-specific trap such as a scissor-jaw, harpoon, or choker-style trap
Open a small section of the tunnel and place the trap according to the manufacturer’s instructions
Keep the tunnel as dark and undisturbed as possible after setting the trap
Wear gloves to reduce human scent
Check traps daily
Reset traps in new active tunnels if no mole is caught
Remove captured moles promptly
Fill in damaged tunnels after trapping is complete
Use multiple traps if the infestation is widespread
Avoid placing traps near utility lines or irrigation systems
