How To Treat A 2 Degree Burn?
Cool the burn under cool running water for 20 minutes
Remove rings, watches, or tight clothing before swelling starts
Do not use ice, butter, toothpaste, or ointments on the burn
Cover the burn with a clean, non-stick sterile dressing or cling film
Keep the burned area elevated if possible
Take over-the-counter pain relief if needed and safe for you
Do not pop blisters
Change the dressing daily or if it becomes wet or dirty
Watch for signs of infection such as increasing redness, swelling, pus, or fever
Seek medical care if the burn is large, on the face, hands, feet, genitals, or over a joint
Seek medical care if pain is severe, the burn looks white or charred, or healing is not starting within 2 weeks
Seek urgent help for trouble breathing, signs of shock, or a chemical or electrical burn
