How To Treat An Ingrown Hair?

Stop shaving or waxing the area until it heals

Wash the area gently with warm water and mild soap

Apply a warm compress for 10 to 15 minutes several times a day

Gently exfoliate the skin with a soft washcloth or mild scrub

Do not pick, squeeze, or dig at the ingrown hair

Use a sterile needle or tweezers only if the hair tip is clearly visible at the surface

Apply an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream if the area is irritated

Use an antiseptic or antibiotic ointment if the skin is broken

Wear loose clothing to reduce friction

Keep the area clean and dry

Seek medical care if there is increasing redness, swelling, pain, pus, fever, or repeated ingrown hairs
