Withhold food for 12–24 hours if your dog is an adult and otherwise healthy

Contact a veterinarian immediately if there is black stool, bloody stool, or severe abdominal pain
Follow your veterinarian’s instructions for any prescribed medications
Do not give human anti-diarrheal medicines unless directed by a veterinarian
