Remove nits and lice from the hair shaft
Check all household members for lice

Dry washed items on high heat
Seal non-washable items in a plastic bag for 2 weeks
Vacuum furniture, car seats, and floors
Do not share combs, brushes, hats, or hair accessories
Recheck the scalp every few days for 2 weeks
