Get out of the sun immediately
Cool the skin with a cool compress or cool bath
Apply aloe vera gel or a fragrance-free moisturizer
Take an oral antihistamine for itching if needed
Use over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream on affected areas
Drink plenty of water
Wear loose, soft clothing
Avoid scratching or rubbing the rash
Avoid further sun exposure until healed
Use broad-spectrum sunscreen and protective clothing afterward
Seek medical care if the rash is severe, widespread, painful, blistering, or not improving
Seek urgent care if you have trouble breathing, swelling of the face or lips, or signs of infection
