Check the wheel in the bike frame or truing stand
Spin the wheel and identify side-to-side wobbles and up-and-down hops
Use a spoke wrench that fits the nipple size
Tighten spokes on the side the rim needs to move toward
Loosen spokes on the side the rim needs to move away from
Make small adjustments, about a quarter-turn at a time
Work on a few adjacent spokes rather than one spoke alone
Recheck the wheel after each round of adjustments
Correct lateral trueness first
Correct radial trueness second
Keep spoke tension even across the wheel
Check that the rim stays centered between the hub locknuts
Repeat until the wheel spins straight
Verify spoke tension and wheel alignment before riding
