Identify your GPU model and current driver version
Download the latest driver package from the GPU vendor site (NVIDIA/AMD/Intel)
Download the driver installer for your operating system version (Windows/Linux)
Disconnect from the internet (optional but recommended to prevent automatic driver replacement)
Create a system restore point (Windows)
Close all applications (especially games and GPU utilities)
Run the driver installer
Choose one of the following during installation:
Express/Recommended (typical)
Custom/Advanced and select “Perform a clean installation” (if available)
Reboot your system when prompted
Verify the update:
Windows: Device Manager → Display adapters → Properties → Driver tab
NVIDIA: NVIDIA Control Panel → System Information
AMD: AMD Software → Settings/Version
Linux: `nvidia-smi` (NVIDIA) or `vulkaninfo`/package version checks (AMD/Intel)
If the update fails or issues occur:
Roll back the driver (Windows: Device Manager → Driver tab → Roll Back Driver)
Reinstall using the same installer with clean installation selected
Check vendor release notes for known issues
