Check the prescription label and pen strength
Wash your hands
Remove the pen from the refrigerator and let it reach room temperature for 30 minutes
Inspect the pen for damage, expiration date, and liquid clarity
Choose an injection site on the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm
Clean the injection site with an alcohol swab and let it dry
Remove the pen cap
Place the pen firmly against the skin
Unlock the pen if required
Press and hold the injection button until the injection is complete
Keep the pen pressed in place until the second click or for the full recommended time
Remove the pen from the skin
Dispose of the used pen in a sharps container
Rotate injection sites each week
Use the pen only once
Store unused pens in the refrigerator
Follow your prescriber’s instructions for dosing and timing
