Check the rug’s care label
Vacuum both sides of the rug
Test a small hidden area for colorfastness
Shake out loose dirt outdoors
Spot clean stains with mild detergent and water
Fill a tub, basin, or bucket with cool water and gentle rug shampoo
Submerge or dampen the rug according to its material
Gently scrub with a soft brush or sponge
Rinse thoroughly with clean water
Press out excess water without twisting
Blot with clean towels
Dry the rug flat in a well-ventilated area
Flip the rug occasionally while drying
Vacuum again once completely dry
