Check the care label and confirm the rug size is machine-washable
Remove the rug cover from the rug pad
Shake off loose dirt and debris
Vacuum both sides of the rug cover if needed
Pretreat stains with a mild, rug-safe stain remover
Wash the rug cover in a washing machine on a gentle cycle with cold water
Use a mild detergent only
Do not use bleach or fabric softener
Wash the rug cover alone or with similar lightweight items
Remove the rug cover promptly after the cycle ends
Air dry the rug cover flat or hang it to dry
Do not tumble dry unless the care label allows it
Make sure the rug cover is completely dry before placing it back on the pad
Smooth the rug cover back onto the pad and align the corners
Spot clean the rug pad if needed
Avoid washing the rug pad unless the manufacturer specifically allows it
