How To Wash Fruit?

Rinse fruit under cool running water.

Rub the surface gently with your hands while rinsing.

Use a clean produce brush for firm-skinned fruits (apples, pears) if needed.

Dry with a clean paper towel or clean cloth.

Keep fruits chilled if you’re not eating them right away.

Wash only what you plan to use soon.

Remove any visible dirt or damaged areas before eating or cutting.

For berries, rinse gently right before eating.

For grapes, rinse in a colander under cool running water.

For citrus, scrub the peel under running water before juicing or eating.

For melons, rinse the outside thoroughly before cutting.

Avoid soaking fruit for long periods.

Do not use soap, detergent, or bleach on fruit.

If using a produce wash, follow the label directions exactly.

Discard fruit that smells off or has mold.
