Remove the thermostat from its wall plate or open the battery compartment
Check the battery type printed inside the compartment or on the thermostat
Remove the old batteries
Insert new batteries with the correct polarity
Reattach the thermostat or close the battery compartment
Wait for the display to power back on
Reset the thermostat settings if needed
Dispose of old batteries properly
