How To Test If A Woman Is Infertile?

See a gynecologist or fertility specialist for an infertility evaluation

Review menstrual history, ovulation patterns, and pregnancy history

Confirm whether ovulation is occurring with ovulation predictor kits, basal body temperature tracking, or mid-luteal progesterone testing

Check hormone levels with blood tests such as FSH, LH, estradiol, AMH, prolactin, and thyroid function tests

Perform a pelvic exam and transvaginal ultrasound to assess the uterus and ovaries

Test for blocked fallopian tubes with hysterosalpingography or similar imaging

Evaluate for conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis, fibroids, or pelvic infections

Review sexual health factors and screen for sexually transmitted infections if indicated

Assess age-related fertility factors

Have the male partner tested as well, including semen analysis

Consider additional testing such as hysteroscopy or laparoscopy if recommended by a specialist
