Wash the lettuce
Pat it dry
Remove any damaged outer leaves
Cut off the stem end
Separate the leaves if needed
Stack a few leaves together
Roll the leaves loosely
Slice across the roll into strips
Chop the strips into smaller pieces if desired
Use immediately or store in a sealed container with a paper towel
