How To Clean Battery Cables?

Turn off the vehicle and remove the key

Wear gloves and safety glasses

Disconnect the negative battery cable first

Disconnect the positive battery cable second

Inspect the cables and terminals for corrosion

Mix baking soda with water

Apply the baking soda solution to the corroded areas

Scrub the terminals and cable ends with a wire brush

Clean the battery posts thoroughly

Rinse with a small amount of clean water if needed

Dry all parts completely

Reconnect the positive battery cable first

Reconnect the negative battery cable second

Tighten the connections securely

Apply battery terminal protectant or petroleum jelly if desired
