Grip the bottom rail or handle of the shade
Pull the shade downward to the desired position
Release the shade to lock it in place, if applicable
For cordless shades, gently pull down and let go
For corded shades, pull the lift cord to lower the shade
For roller shades, pull the chain or spring mechanism to close it
For top-down bottom-up shades, lower the top rail or raise the bottom rail as needed
For motorized shades, use the remote, wall switch, or app to close them
Check that the shade is fully lowered and aligned evenly
Secure any cords or chains out of reach if needed
