How to Tell a Bad Egg?

Check the expiration or sell-by date

Look for cracks, leaks, or unusual shell damage

Smell the egg after cracking it open

Discard it if it smells sulfurous, rotten, or foul

Inspect the egg white and yolk for unusual colors or textures

Discard it if the white is pink, green, or iridescent

Discard it if the yolk is discolored, slimy, or unusually runny

Do a float test in water

Discard it if it floats

Discard it if it makes a sloshing sound when shaken

Discard it if there is mold on the shell or inside
