Sign the back of the Ohio title as the seller
Enter the buyer’s full name and address on the title
Enter the odometer reading on the title if required
Complete the purchase price on the title
Have all required signatures notarized if the title requires notarization
Remove your license plates from the vehicle
Give the signed title to the buyer
Provide a bill of sale if needed
Buyer takes the signed title to the Ohio BMV
Buyer pays the title transfer fee and any applicable taxes
Buyer applies for a new title in their name
Buyer registers the vehicle and gets new plates or transfers eligible plates
If there is a lien, obtain a lien release before transfer
If the title is lost, apply for a duplicate title before transfer
