Park away from trash bins, compost, tall grass, and debris
Use rodent deterrent sprays or repellents approved for vehicles
Place deterrent devices near parking areas if appropriate
Keep grass, weeds, and shrubs trimmed around parking spaces
Fix leaks and remove standing water near the parking area
Avoid parking for long periods in areas with heavy rodent activity
Check wiring and hoses frequently for signs of chewing
Use steel mesh or protective wrap on vulnerable wires and hoses
Store the car with the hood closed and all openings secured
Remove birdseed, animal feed, and other attractants from nearby areas
Schedule regular inspections by a mechanic if rodent activity is common
