Blot (don’t rub) immediately with a clean white cloth or paper towel
Rinse the back of the fabric with cold water to push the stain out
Apply a stain remover directly to the red wine stain and work it in gently
If no stain remover is available, cover the stain with dish soap and gently rub, then rinse with cold water
For white or colorfast fabrics, soak in a solution of oxygen-based bleach (follow label directions) in cool or lukewarm water, then rinse and wash
For delicate fabrics, use cold water and a gentle detergent, then air-dry and re-treat if needed
If any stain remains, repeat the oxygen-bleach soak or detergent treatment before drying
Avoid heat until the stain is fully gone (heat can set the stain)
For upholstery or carpets, blot, then apply cold-water rinse and blot again; finish with an appropriate upholstery/carpet cleaner and blot dry
