Line a bowl with aluminum foil
Place the silver item on the foil
Add hot water to cover the silver
Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda per cup of water
Add 1 tablespoon of salt if desired
Let the silver soak for 2 to 10 minutes
Remove the silver with tongs
Rinse the silver with clean water
Dry the silver completely with a soft cloth
Buff gently with a microfiber cloth
Repeat if tarnish remains
Avoid using this method on silver with gemstones, pearls, or delicate finishes
