Freeze the pitch with ice or a freezer pack until it hardens
Gently scrape off the hardened pitch with a dull knife or spoon
Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol, mineral spirits, or citrus-based solvent to a clean cloth
Blot the stain from the outside inward
Repeat with fresh cloths until the pitch lifts
Rinse the area with warm water
Apply liquid laundry detergent directly to the stain
Gently rub the detergent into the fabric
Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes
Wash the clothing in the hottest water safe for the fabric
Check the stain before drying
Repeat the treatment if any pitch remains
Air-dry only until the stain is fully gone
Test any solvent on a hidden area first
Avoid using heat until the stain is removed
Take dry-clean-only items to a professional cleaner
