Turn off the vehicle and remove the key
Open the trunk, hatch, or access panel behind the tail light
Remove any covers or trim blocking the tail light assembly
Unscrew or unclip the tail light housing
Pull the tail light assembly outward carefully
Locate the burned-out bulb socket
Twist the socket counterclockwise or release the locking tab
Remove the old bulb from the socket
Insert the new bulb of the correct type
Reinstall the socket into the tail light assembly
Refit the tail light housing into place
Secure all screws, clips, and trim pieces
Test the tail light to confirm it works
